Extremely important unit history of the early light horse troops and their involvement in the Boer war. Of the 170 lancers who served in South Africa, 51 were from the 4th Squadron. Relates the activities of these farmers turned cavalrymen during their training, camps, tournaments, overseas visits and Boer War service. Much of the history is taken from the files of three local newspapers and the personal diaries and letters of the troopers.
