Comments: One of the first assignments of C E W Bean, the Special Correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald.
Bean was aboard the HMS Powerful, flagship of the Royal Navy squadron on the Australian Station, to report on the visit of sixteen American warships. Bean published his collected reports at his own expense, and drew attention to the need for an Australian Navy.
An interesting and now scarce first edition of one of the earliest books written by Australian’s most famous war correspondent and military historian who achieved recognition through his comprehensive coverage and later documentation of Australia’s armed forces during World War I.
Good Condition – loose binding, stains on pages however still a good reading copy.
