Comments: The detailed history of the Evans Head RAAF Base during World War II.

An emergency landing ground prior to World War II, Evans Head was home base for No 1 Air Observers School and No 1 Bombing and Gunnery School. As a result of these two units being in the area, a series of gunnery and bombing ranges were constructed in the area, which continue to be used by the RAAF to the present day.
