Comments: The author served with the 11th Light Horse (Darling Downs Light Horse) during the 1930s and later joined the AIF.
Jack Enlisted in the AIF in 1940 and was posted to the ill fated 8th Division which was sent to Singapore, and took part in the withdrawal to Singapore Island.
He was able to escape Singapore and was later posted to the 2/31st Nattalion and served in New Guinea.
Before being discharged form the Army he was involved in the repatriation of P.O.Ws from Japan and the Philippines having served in the 2/18th,2/31st,and 2/33rd Infantry Battalions.
