Comments: The history of the University of New South Wales Regiment 1952 – 2006. A scarce publication with a small print run.
The book spans 54 years of the Regiment’s continuing existence as a major training unit of the Australian Army. More than 1,400 people are referred to in the book – as staff members, as trainees, or as guests of the Regiment at various times. Many of the people named also appear in one or more of the book’s 233 photographs.
Among those referred to in the book are all known to have been commissioned as officers in the Army Reserve while serving with UNSWR.
The appendices include contributions by several former members of UNSWR who have recalled aspects their service with the Regiment. There is also a summary concerning the way in which formal pre-commissioning training has been developed for Army Reserve members generally.
Concluding with a comprehensive index, this book is a must if you have ever served in UNSWR or have had a family member who has done so. If you have an interest in the Australian Army either as a member or as a citizen of the local community where UNSWR has had a presence, then you may also find this book to be one worthy of your home library.
