Comments: This is the story of Private Archibald George Kirk MM of the 50th and later 52nd Battalions AIF and his war service with the Australians on the Western Front. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery.

Military Medal citation:

'On the 13th August, 1918, near BRAY-Sur-SOMME this man's company was heavily shelled and suffered many casualties. Private KIRK was the only stretcher bearer left unwounded. he continued to work under very heavy shell fire, frequently dressing wounded and moving them single handed to cover. Throughout the day he showed great coolness and set a most excellent example of courage and devotion to duty.'
