Before it was disbanded in early 1918 it took part in the great battle to stop the German spring offensive.
For months the men had alternated between rest, labouring and more training, and then, the German army launched a big attack. Thrown into the defensive line, the battalion was deployed near Villers-Bretonneux to help defend the approaches to Amiens. Then, during a counter attack at Hangard Wood they helped to stop the Germans.
